January
As I sit here to write a summary of the first month of the year, I can’t quite believe how quickly it’s gone. January is always a bit of a funny month. There is often so much talk about setting goals and jumping into a brand new year but so far in 2023 I’ve done my best to quieten the noise and take things at my own pace. I knew I wanted to start this photo a day project but I wanted to be kind to myself - I knew there would be days that it wouldn't be easy to take an aesthetic shot (long work days with short daylight hours for example) but I wanted to learn to accept this and get used to sharing things in a more honest and real way.
There were days in January where I headed out on beautiful walks and took lots of photographs and there were days I was so busy that I completely forgot and had to grab a quick photo at the end of the day with terrible lighting and no time/energy to make it look better. But all together the following collection of images fully represent the January that I had - the beautiful icy days, the homemade soup and blanket days, the times that I had every intention of getting somewhere but got stuck on a train for 2 hours… all of these moments make up for a pretty good month and a great first start to this project. Enjoy :)
